In our village, the “Souterroscope”, a slate quarry, will lead you through the history of slate mining.

Nearby, the Château de Balleroy, its gardens and its hot air balloon museum, the “outstanding” gardens of Castillon, Cerisy and Juaye Mondaye abbeys awaits you.

  • Bayeux : Known around the world for its Tapestry of Bayeux (UNESCO Memory of the World programme), this medieval city offers an extraordinary heritage. Its famous cathedral, half-timbered houses, Norman manor houses and private mansions, lead the visitor through a cultural walk punctuated with 23 explicative markers.   • D-Day Beaches : Omaha Beach, Utah Beach, Sword beach, Juno Beach, Gold Beach; the 6th June 1944 is at all visitors’ minds when they come to pay tribute. Various museums and lands of memory are inescapable. At “Les Champs Français”, you will find all the documentation you need to plan your visits.
  • Caen: The city is rich with an architectural and religious heritage, from William the Conqueror who had the castle built in 1060, to Caen Memorial museum where you will dive deep in the heart of the 20th century, from 1914 to the fall of the Berlin Wall, to remember this part of our recent history where more than 60 millions disappeared.
  • Falaise and its castle where William the Conqueror was born, which just enriched with a new museum: civilians in wartime Memorial. This museum is dedicated to the civilians’ life and survival during wartime.
  • Saint Gabriel de Brécy is famous for its parc and gardens of the castle, Saint Gabriel priory.
  • Villedieu les Poëles : visit the impressive foundry Cornille Havard, where the bells of Notre Dame de Paris and Bayeux cathedral were made.
